At the height of the great Bible boom last century the skins of about
100,000 goats a year were required to bind the Bibles coming from the
presses of Oxford and Cambridge universities.
That was on the basis of an average-size goat covering 10 books, and
rather makes the point that Christianity did nothing at all for goats.
