From The Christian Herald dated June 25, 1983
The Imperial War Museum's 'Animals at War' exhibition which will
remain open until 25th February next year [1984], will be specially
attractive to all animal lovers. Many will be amazed to learn of the
part played in war-time by horses, mules, elephants, camels and dogs.
Perhaps the most impressive record must be given to the horse from
earliest times. A tableau of the 1914-18 war describes a pack horse
carrying shells to the front line. It is sad to reflect on innocent
animals being wounded in war, which only increases the hope and prayer
that the time will come when war shall be no more.
