Monks' veal farm for sale
From Ag. Scene October 1985 The Priory at Storrington has
announced that it is to sell the veal calf rearing unit and farm, "for
economic reasons". We would like to thank everyone who has
campaigned towards this successful conclusion, and all who have
supported us in the court action and the High Court Appeal. It
has been put in the hands of the Estate Agents as an intensive calf unit
with about 750 stalls. Anyone buying it and intending to carry on its
present usage will need to be advised of the level of public hostility,
and the fact that the stalls contravene the Welfare Codes approved by
Parliament. Reproduced with thanks to Compassion In world
Farming.
