Animal Societies Banned from Church Service British Food and Farming Year wound up with a Thanksgiving Service at St. Paul's Cathedral attended by the Queen in November. Although welfare societies had been allowed to exhibit at the Hyde park Festival in May (upon payment of a large fee) we were not allowed to set up information stalls in St. Paul's. The Dean of St. Paul's wrote to The Athene Trust, our educational wing, that "the Cathedral is not the place for propaganda purposes of this nature". Similar negative replies were sent to Chickens' Lib and Animal Aid. And we thought British Food and Farming Year was meant to be a neat piece of propaganda itself!
