By Margaret Lawson To All Presbytery Clerks of the Church of Scotland Dear Sirs, With the approach of "World Day of Prayer for Kindness to Animals", the nearest convenient Sunday to Oct. 4th., the birthday of St. Francis of Assisi, I am writing to ask if you would be so kind as to remind members of your presbyteries of my letter in the spring issue of the "Manse Mail". At the same time I should like to say that, although I have been led to base publicity for the campaign to have "Reverence for All Life", and what it must mean to the sincere Christian, recognised as a true Christian virtue, on "World Day for Animals", I am well aware of the difficulties which surround "special days", and would like to suggest that Advent or Lent would be just as suitable as St. Francis - tide. That Christians should be roused to the immorality of killing and cruelty for food, clothes, medicine and entertainment, with its resultant evils of world food shortage, pollution of the environment and disease, is absolutely vital, and I do most sincerely believe that a special service is every bit as essential as Harvest Thanksgiving. Supplies of free literature for display and St. Francis poster are available from the above address. Early orders would be appreciated. Thanking you, Yours sincerely, Margaret E.
