I was horrified at the photograph on the front page of your issue of
January 10.
Any spectacle concerning creatures of God being forced into
humiliating and unnatural acts should be utterly condemned by all
right-thinking Christians.
Many other animals were also involved in this sad event which
took place on the great feast of the Epiphany.
Has anyone ever bothered to inform the Vatican of the quality of
life led by the many poor creatures kept in circuses, crated about
from pillar to post, cramped in cages and forced to live the
abnormal and abhorrent existence of performing animals?
I cannot imagine how our present Pope (who I and millions of
others regard as a most humane man), could possibly condone such
brutality.
