Boycott circuses that abuse animals

All circuses that use exotic animals in their programs need to be boycotted. The article below has a former Ringling employee encouraging people to pass legislation in NY to end the use of 'wild' animals in their shows.

Also below is the video by The Record of PETA's recent demo against Ringling. Videos showing elephants being 'trained' to do unnatural acts for profit (which Barnum was interested in getting when he began his shows of exploiting people), are sadistic. It's all done for money. Children (and adults) do not need to see animals that are abused their entire lives to be 'entertained'.

"Let everything that has breath praise the Lord." Psalm 150:6 "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." Hebrews 4:13

"Christian Concern For All God's Creatures" DVD is now online! Based on God's Creatures Ministry's conference is great for churches and seminaries. For more information visit www.Godscreaturesministry.org

March 18th Press Conference Re: Bill to Ban Wild Animals from Circuses!

Tom RiderOn March 18th at 12pm, the League of Humane Voters of New York City (LOHV-NYC) will hold a major press conference outside of Madison Square Garden, urging the City Council to pass Council Member Rosie Mendez's Intro 389! Intro 389 would end the use of elephants and other wild animals by the circus.

Former Ringling Bros. Circus employee Tom Rider (right) will be joining us at the press conference to speak about the cruelty that he witnessed first hand. We'll also be joined by representatives of the Humane Society of the United States, In Defense of Animals and other supportive animal protection organizations.

Over the past 2 years, LOHV-NYC has been educating the City Council about the plight of wild animals in the circus. Our work is paying off! Intro 389 is now a bi-partisan effort sponsored by 21 members of the 51-member Council. We're only 5 members shy of a majority of support... but we need to show that there is massive public support for this bill. Please join us at the press conference! Your attendance is crucial!

What: Press Conference in Support of Intro 389
When: Tuesday, March 18th at 12pm
Where: Madison Square Garden (33rd St. and 7th Ave., near Borders bookstore)
Why: Because Wild Animals Are Not Performers!

Mark Your Calendar! On March 20th, the day of Ringling Bros. opening show, please also call your Council Member and urge them to support Intro 389, the bill to ban the use of wild animals in circuses. Call LOHV-NYC at (212) 889-0303 if you need your Council Member's contact information.

The League of Humane Voters of New York City ("LOHV-NYC") mobilizes public concern for animals through the democratic political process.  Recognizing that animal protection is a political issue as well as a moral issue, we campaign for the election of humane candidates to public office.  Founded in 2001, LOHV-NYC has become the political arm of the local animal protection movement by building support amongst citizens, activists, political parties, candidates and elected representatives all over the city. LOHV-NYC's membership now numbers more than six thousand citywide.

Thanks for your continued support! As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us at (212) 889-0303.

Sincerely,

John Phillips

God's Creatures Ministry is committed to spreading God's compassion to all He has made based on The Scriptures. Although we are a Christian Ministry, we encourage all to have their own animal welfare committee in their community. We extend our resources to those who would like to learn more or begin their own God's Creatures Ministry as an extension of us. God created us to have a vegetarian diet and commissioned us to protect His animals. Instead, we have exploited them for our entertainment, fashion, appetite and useless, torturous research. These creatures have the right to live as they were created to live. Because we live IN this world, but are not OF this world, we strive to bring God's mercy and justice to all. We live in God's Kingdom now where Jesus, The Sacrificial Lamb, The Prince of Peace, The Lion of Judah reigns. We look forward to that day when all of creation will be 'set free from slavery to corruption and share in the glorious freedom of the children of God' (Romans 8:21) where a little child will lead and guide God's creatures (see Isaiah 11:5-9).
