Unconditional Love and Healing

The quote by Anatole France "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened" I live by this saying.

In 1991, I was diagnosed with a very rare, grade 4 highly malignant brain tumor. I was given 3 - 6 months to live. Each day after receiving my chemotherapy & radiation treatment at Sloan Kettering, I headed home exhausted, wanting to just lay in bed with my dog Nike.

She made made me laugh, brightened my life and every day, silently accepted my tears without judgment, snuggled with me, forgave my faults and loved who I was unconditionally. The fact that I had three brain surgeries caused me to lose my left peripherial vision in both eyes. I am functionally blind.

To make a long medical story short... a miracle was granted to me and I am a survivor. I went to Seton Hall, but every weekend would come home from college to see my dog, the one thing in this world who provided me with so much hope and compassion during my tough times in life.

Nike died my last year of college at 18. My heart was broken and my soul was crushed. In her loving memory I vowed to rescue and love dogs for as long as I could.

I began to rescue dogs and find shelter animals loving homes. I myself have six (five pugs and a basset hound). I am on permanent disablity due to my blindness so my furbabies provide me with so much love, laughter & companionship being I am home all day. They are my motivation to get out of bed because I know they depend on me to feed, care for and let them out.

My animals give my life purpose, they give meaning to me. As a pet owner, I understand how difficult and expensive it is to take on the responsibility of an animal...vet bills, food, medications all cost money. Money so many of us in these hard times have a lack of. It is so important to have people in the community donate whether it be money or animal food, toys or supplies.

I know a wonderful group of people who have so generously been helping me. I cannot thank them and their organization enough because my dogs are my world and make my life so special and make me feel like I have self worth in this world.

God's Creatures Ministry is committed to spreading God's compassion to all He has made based on The Scriptures. Although we are a Christian Ministry, we encourage all to have their own animal welfare committee in their community. We extend our resources to those who would like to learn more or begin their own God's Creatures Ministry as an extension of us. God created us to have a vegetarian diet and commissioned us to protect His animals. Instead, we have exploited them for our entertainment, fashion, appetite and useless, torturous research. These creatures have the right to live as they were created to live. Because we live IN this world, but are not OF this world, we strive to bring God's mercy and justice to all. We live in God's Kingdom now where Jesus, The Sacrificial Lamb, The Prince of Peace, The Lion of Judah reigns. We look forward to that day when all of creation will be 'set free from slavery to corruption and share in the glorious freedom of the children of God' (Romans 8:21) where a little child will lead and guide God's creatures (see Isaiah 11:5-9).
