Milk – 3 April 2009

In becoming vegetarians/vegans, if my husband Frank and I had it to do all over again, all products containing milk would be the first to be eliminated from our diet. Dairy products cause a multitude of health problems, and even bad breath and body odor; yet the powerful dairy industry with their commercials, as well as their lobbyists in Washington, rake in the money at the expense of the public’s health.

Humans are the only animals who continue to consume milk after they’ve been weaned. After all, cow’s milk is for calves, goat’s milk is for goats, sheep’s milk is for lambs, dog’s milk is for dogs, cat’s milk is for cats, rat’s milk is for rats…you get the picture!

As Dr. Frank A. Oski, former Director of Pediatrics, Johns Hopkins University says:

“There’s no reason to drink cow’s milk at any time in your life. It was designed for calves, not humans, and we should all stop drinking it today.”

Julie Klotter, M.D. had this to say about milk in the Townsend Medical Letter, May 1995:

“In reality, cow's milk, especially processed cow’s milk, has been linked to a variety of health problems, including: mucous production, hemoglobin loss, childhood diabetes, heart disease, atherosclerosis, arthritis, kidney stones, mood swings, depression, irritability, and allergies.”

"Joyful Curmudgeon"
An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
