"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
From what I’ve observed, machismo is triggered by fear. The fear of appearing inadequate or unmanly is the basis of this exaggerated preoccupation to prove virility and is the opposite of love (1 John 4:18).*
So, those who commit cruel acts against humans and other animals in a vain attempt to prove their courage and manliness are actually cowardly wimps who are over-compensating for their feelings of inferiority.
The all-powerful Holy Spirit of God instructs us to have love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22 and 23)
That’s it! Within this teaching, there is no room for being macho.
* 1 John 4:18 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
