Winter Is Good Ė 26 February 2009

For today Iíve chosen this poem that I found in an old book of Emily Dickinsonís poetry. I thought it would be appropriate, since itís about winter, and today is a beautiful February day with the sun shining on the snow-covered frozen lake outside my window.

Winter Is Good
Emily Dickinson

Winter is good, his hoar delights
Italic flavor yield
To intellects inebriate
With summer or the world;

Generic as a quarry,
And hearty as a rose,
Invited with asperity,
But welcome when he goes.

"Joyful Curmudgeon"
An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
