"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
Whenever I hear about someone who has abandoned a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle, I wonder what had motivated him/her to try changing in the first place.
From my experience and observations, I think that people, who are motivated by empathy for the suffering of animals who are exploited and whose body parts and secretions are considered mere production units, are far more likely to stay the course.
Those whose hearts are not touched by the plight of other animals who share our planet, and who give going veg a try as one would follow a fad, are far more likely to return to their non-veg ways.
I believe that compassion is the key to permanent positive change.
