Micah 6:8 New International Reader's Version

8. The Lord has shown you what is good. He has told you what he requires of you. You must act with justice. You must love to show mercy. And you must be humble as you live in the sight of your God.

We make things so complicated and get confused striving to find out what God’s plan and purpose is for our lives.

We pray, ask others to pray for us and then worry about not getting an answer or missing the answer.

But in His word, God has clearly shown us what we are supposed to do daily.  This is our purpose. He requires us to be good and do good.  We have the Holy Spirit to guide us in this. Our goodness is in our words and actions. It is about thinking the right thoughts and believing God in every detail.  It is to thank God for what He has done and what He will do. Everything about what is good revolves around God.  Justice begins with the heart of God in us.  It must be measured by God’s standards, not ours.  This will take us letting go of our guidelines and allowing the Holy Spirit to show us His justice.

When we are humble before God, we are obedient to His leading.  It is our heart that He is seeking and watching.

Mercy is precious to God.  When we show mercy our hearts are laid open to God’s love and compassion. It is a powerful place.

We must live in the reality of always being in the presence of God.

He sees us, but we must have Him in our sight.

Our tension and striving comes when we are trying to do anything in our own strength.  It is when we keep ourselves filled with His presence, that we can pour it out to others without hesitation or burden.

Challenge:  let go of what you know to be good, just, merciful and humble and ask the Holy Spirit to show you and do it through you.

God bless

lamb-rightThe purpose of this series is to encourage people to live as loving, compassionate, and peacemaking children of God: Jesus tells us to pray, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10) God tells us through Micah (6:8), "He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God." And we know from Revelation 21:4 that there will be no more mourning, or crying, or pain, or death. Thus, Christian living requires us to set the standards of these conditions here on earth for our fellow human beings, and for the other animals, as a witness to the rest of the world. To do otherwise is not Christian.
