JEANINE PIRRO: DON’T DISENFRANCHISE VOTERS

Westchester County, NY February 3, 2005   According to a recent New York Times account, Westchester District Attorney Jeanine Pirro attended the wedding of Donald Trump  wearing a ‘silver fox stole.’

District Attorney Pirro has stated for the record that she is an animal lover. She also prides herself having a record number of convictions on animal abuse cases.  But  fur-bearing animals experience arguably the worst abuse of all, and for no good reason: unlike eating meat, which arises from habit and the notion that it’s a dietary necessity, wearing real fur is totally unnecessary;   wearing it is making a deliberate and frivolous choice to support cruelty - the wearer of a fur stole might as  well be breaking the animal’s neck or gassing him.

We are calling upon District Attorney Jeanine Pirro to renounce her support of cruel real fur clothing once and for all, and are seeking a meeting with Ms. Pirro to this effect.

Kiley Blackman, ADOW spokesperson who requested the meeting said, “Our anti-fur efforts in Westchester are very  well received by local citizens, most of whom are registered voters.  District Attorney Pirro, please don’t disenfranchise us by making a deliberate contribution to blood fashion.”
