Press Release
FUR WEARERS: BE ASHAMED...BE VERY ASHAMED FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: November 25, 2005 Members of Animal Defenders of Westchester will join
with other animal protection organizations to conduct the annual FUR FREE
FRIDAY event on November 25, 2005, outside Macys in the Galleria, located
at the corner of Court and Main Street in White Plains, from 1:30 pm till
3 pm. Some retailers and designers, such as Jennifer Lopez, Fendi and Neiman
Marcus ( Neiman Carcass) adamantly refuse to omit real fur clothing and
fur trim from their clothing lines, despite growing public knowledge of
the incredible cruelty the fur trade causes. Macys has added a beautiful
faux fur collection; but unfortunately still sells real rabbit, fox, etc.
Retailers collectively state: If the public wants it, we will sell it. Kiley Blackman, organizer of this event, said, It is our intention to
force the buyers of blood fashion to think about where their fur came
from: to see the blood dripping from decapitated rabbits, and not just
the vest they bring to the sales register; to hear the screams of
foxes horribly electrocuted anally, or echoing through the forest while
struggling wildly to free their paws from a steel jaw trap; and to think
of the cats and dogs many fur-wearers love, whose fur is also ripped from
them, usually while they are still alive, by a money-hungry fur trade who
doesnt want the public to know their dirty little secrets. |
