ACTION

University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) already owns the American College of Surgeons-approved TraumaMan System, so there is no justification for the continued animal abuse.

INFORMATION / TALKING POINTS

I am writing to ask that you immediately replace the use of live goats in UTMB's Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) courses. This practice is cruel and outdated. In fact, URMB is among only two percent of ATLS programs in the United States and Canada that continue to use live animals for this training.

UTMB already owns the American College of Surgeons-approved TraumaMan System, so there is no justification for the continued animal use. Please end this cruel and unnecessary practice immediately.

  • Please replace the use of live goats in UTMB’s ATLS courses with superior human-based training methods.
  • UTMB conducts the only ATLS program in Texas involving live animals.
  • Since UTMB already owns the TraumaMan System, there is no justification for this continued animal use.
  • Please end this cruel and unnecessary practice immediately.

Thank you for everything you do for animals!
