From Yvonne About Eating Free-Range Eggs - 5 Sep 2009

Thank you for publicizing the plight of these poor creatures. It is heartbreaking. I have 3 dogs (2 of whom are rescue dogs). I have chickens and ducks, horses and goats. I love them all and they will all live long and happy lives and die of old age, free to wander on my 7 acres.

But I have a couple of issues with your site. Firstly, I love my eggs. They are truly free range and my hens are happy and run to me to be stroked and petted so please don't keep telling me on your page not to eat eggs when what you mean is DO NOT EAT MASS PRODUCED EGGS, a statement I agree with wholeheartedly.

Secondly, please stop the God stuff. You have your faith and I respect that, but pushing God down the throats of people who truly believe in animal rights and care for all living creatures is offputting. This is the first time I have visited your site but I am put off by the religion thing.

If you are promoting animal care don't mix it with religion. These are two separate issues and 'non-believers' still care.

Thank you,

Yvonne

Dear Yvonne:

Thank you very much for writing and for your support.

What we've said about eggs is true in almost every case, because even on so-called free-range operations, the male chicks are killed and the hens are slaughtered when they are no longer productive. If you want to eat your own eggs, that is up to you, because you absolutely know that the chickens are treated with loving care for the entire lives. And we hope you don't eat any other animal products.

90% of the people in our country consider themselves to be religious, and 85% consider themselves to be Christian, and we have constructed our web site to try to reach the religious community, because they also have the power to end the wanton cruelty inflicted upon animals, instead of being indifferent to their suffering, which make it really the same issue.

We hope you understand.

We look forward to hearing from you again.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary

Thank you so much for your speedy reply. I realize that a lot of people are religious and I am not anti-god. I believe in God, but I think your site should be anti-animal abuse first as this is such an important issue. People can choose which and indeed any God they want, but stopping animal abuse and looking after all life is a must and nobody should make this a choice it should be so important to everyone that should not have to even think about it.

You are doing a great job and I certainly will return to your site. Thank you for caring. I moved to Ireland from the UK and there is much abuse of animals - both domestic and farmyard - in both countries. In my own small way I hope I am making a difference. I can but try.

Take care,

Yvonne
