Yulin is a rural area where several million children are left behind by their parents, who are often forced to move to wealthier urban areas for work. Most of these children do not have the role models or love they need to become responsible and compassionate adults. We know that children must know love to show love. That’s why we believe that through education, there will be an end to Yulin’s festival. It takes USD $15 per month to educate a child for one year through our Caring for Life Education programme.

CFL Caring for Life Education program helps children in China to understand that dogs are our companions...

It’s a familiar sight each year in June, broadcast by media across the globe – dogs crammed into cages, awaiting their fate at the Yulin dog meat festival.

This is a very upsetting time for people who want to put a stop to the unthinkable. And that’s why there’s so much public support for direct intervention.

Sadly, we know from bitter experience that rescuing a few lucky dogs just means others take their place. There’s never a shortage of supply.

Children who understand that dogs have feelings are likely to grow up thinkng this scene in Yulin is wrong...

We believe the Yulin festival will only end when China itself decides that the suffering can no longer be justified. And we think that change is not impossible but may take a generation.

Our Caring for Life Education programme (CFL), which teaches children the importance of compassion and kindness towards people, animals and the environment, has already reached more than 65,000 children across China. Our educators help children to feel valued, and to value each other. Children learn that dogs and other animals have feelings, just like them. They take part in activities which help them imagine how the world may look through the eyes of a dog, like those in Yulin.

Please help us take Caring for Life Education to the children who one day will have the power to change the future of Yulin. Not because the world says they must, but because they know cruelty has no place in their world.
