A fourth dog has died as a result of the cruel 2017 Iditarod race. Four-year-old Flash reportedly collapsed on the trail before dying, making him the second dog to die on the trail this year. A 2-year-old dog named Deacon died last week between race checkpoints.

What’s more, two other dogs have died during the 2017 Iditarod after being pulled off the racecourse.

Flash’s death marks a gruesome milestone: He is at least the 150th dog to die during the history of the Iditarod.

These needless deaths show that the race is wholly unacceptable and highly dangerous for the dogs forced to run in it. In what other modern “sporting event” would it be considered acceptable for four healthy participants to die in the same week?

Join compassionate people everywhere in demanding an end to this archaic blood sport. Let your friends and family know that animals aren’t ours to use for entertainment or abuse in any other way. The 2017 Iditarod needs to be the last Iditarod.

Not every puppy born is a fast runner. Those who don't make the cut for the Iditarod dogsled races are usually killed—sometimes BLUDGEONED or DROWNED.

No race is worth a dog's life.
