George Snedeker is an avid hunter who considers it much more than just a sport; to George, hunting is a way of life. George hunts mainly for deer meat and tries to use the entire animal in order not to be wasteful. George has agreed to be part of a reality TV show called 30 Days, the brainchild of filmmaker Morgan Spurlock (of Supersize Me fame). On each episode of 30 Days, a person or group of people must live for one month with someone who has drastically different beliefs and a different lifestyle.
PARTICIPANT - George Snedeker, 42
RESIDES - Chapel Hill, NC
OCCUPATION - Handyman
For 30 Days, George will live in Los Angeles with vegan Melissa Karpel, 29, and her vegan family. Melissa is a Los Angeles Campaign Coordinator for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), a non-profit organization that fights for animal rights on factory farms, in laboratories, in the clothing trade and in the entertainment industry.
George will participate in PETA protests — including one against KFC, for which he wears a chicken suit, and another against Burberry's use of fur — gather signatures for a California bill that would eliminate the worst abuses in factory farming, and get to know animals on a very personal level.
Please tune in on June 17 at 10 p.m. on the FX network to see for yourself how George handles animal rights activism while living as a vegan. In Morgan Spurlock's words, it will be the "best hour of television that you're ever going to see in your life."
30 Days, now in its third season, has been both a critical success and a favorite with cable viewers. TV Guide called the series "equal parts funny and sobering and a million times smarter than most other shows on TV." And in its four-star review of the series, the Los Angeles Daily News called 30 Days "compelling human drama." The show is FX's most successful unscripted series as over 2.4 million viewers tune in each week. 30 Days has been nominated for a Producer's Guild Award for a Television Series or Special: Non-fiction, and it won a GLAAD award for outstanding reality series.
