May 13, thanks to so many animal and First Amendment advocates
Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam vetoed the state's notorious ag-gag bill!
Sponsored by Rep. Andy Holt − a factory pig farmer with a history of
environmental violations − this dangerous anti-whistleblower law aimed to
criminalize undercover investigations inside agricultural operations such as
those conducted by COK.
Across the country, undercover videos by COK and others have led to
slaughterhouse shutdowns, the discovery of food safety violations, criminal
animal cruelty charges, and more. The meat industry wants to keep Americans
in the dark, which is why it's lobbying for these ag-gag bills.
This veto is a tremendous victory for animals and consumers alike − yet
the fight to protect farmed animals is far from over.
Big Ag isn't going to let up. And neither can we.
That's why COK's undercover investigations are so vital − and your support is so crucial to our efforts to stand up against these multi-billion dollar industries that relegate animals to suffer as mere machines.
