Our new report outlines the case against hunting with dogs.

The scientific evidence is conclusive: foxes, deer and hares suffer physiological and psychological stress when chased by a hunt, and this suffering occurs whether or not they are eventually killed. A parliamentary inquiry into hunting with dogs (commonly referred to as the Burns Report) established this as fact back in 2000, and that is why hunting with dogs for sport was banned in Britain over a decade ago.

With political party conference season upon us we are ensuring it makes its way into the hands of MPs across the political spectrum.

This new report is timely as revelations regarding the Prime Minister's connections to hunting came to light last week:

“By riding to hounds on Boxing Day 2004, weeks after Parliament passed the hunting ban, Mr Cameron is clearly giving a metaphorical two fingers to the country’s strong disgust for hunting.

“And if reports of Mr Cameron’s personal intervention in the prosecution of a huntsman friend while Leader of the Opposition and a privy councillor are true, that’s even more concerning. Most recently, as Prime Minister, if his attempt to weaken the Hunting Act this summer had been successful, it would have wrecked the police’s and CPS’s ability to enforce the law.

“As his influence increases so do his attempts to undermine the law that 8 out of 10 people support. Should we expect this of our Prime Minister?”

Also, a League investigation has led to the successful prosecution of a terrierman for the Cottesmore Hunt caught by our investigators blocking up a badger sett prior to a hunt meet. Watch the investigation footage here.

This case proves once again claims of trail hunting by the hunting community are nothing but a myth and highlights their cruelty not only to foxes, but badgers and working dogs as well.
