Compassion in World Farming - Ireland has welcomed the Green Party’s inclusion of a phase out of fur farming over the next three years in the new agreed Programme for Government.

Compassion in World Farming - Ireland says the ban on fur farming is a major step forward for farm animal welfare standards in the Republic of Ireland.

Fur farmers in Donegal have previously argued the important role they play in the county through direct employment.

Up to one hundred people are employed in Donegal on fur farms.
