By Megan Susoef on Care2.com

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently announced they would reinstate the proposed rule to list the flat-tailed horned lizard as "threatened" under the Endangered Species Act.

Flat-tailed horned lizards are one step closer to protection.

For several months a petition circulated in support of the flat-tailed horned lizard (Phrynosoma mcallii). Care2 activists from around the world spoke up to protect this rare lizard and help him claim a spot on the endangered species list. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently announced they would reinstate the proposed rule to list the flat-tailed horned lizard as "threatened" under the Endangered Species Act.

Thanks to all who previously took part in helping to protect our lizard friend. But there's still more to do. Sign our new petition to help ensure the flat-tailed horned lizard earns that much-needed spot on the endangered species list.
