June 2nd, 2011 - Below is the Statement of H.E. Minister Mounir Fakhry
AbdelNour regarding the alleged planned fight between AlSayed Al Sawy and a lion
on June 25:
Under no circumstance will the Ministry of Tourism tolerate any degree of inhumane acts against animals. The alleged plan to host a lion fight is currently being investigated by officials, and I am personally involved in making sure such a barbaric act does not take place in Egypt.

Updated: June 8th, 2011 - Egyptian Minister of Tourism Mounir Fakry AbdelNour asserts that he will ask the Minister of Interior to take the necessary measures to stop this action from happening, and reiterates:
I have been personally involved in making sure such a barbaric act does not take place in Egypt, and under no circumstance will the Ministry of Tourism tolerate any degree of inhumane acts against animals.
