Victory! Rats Saved from Neuoroscience Experiments

From People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)

Thanks in large part to your e-mails, letters, and phone calls, the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) has ended the use of rats in cruel classroom neuroscience experiments!

After PETA's Laboratory Investigations Department (LID) learned about a UTD neuroscience course in which dozens of rats per year were killed after having holes drilled into their skulls and their brains damaged in crude classroom experiments, we sent a letter to the school urging it to end the cruel lab and included information on modern, humane, and educationally superior simulators. We also filed a complaint with the university animal-care committee and asked our members and supporters to urge the school to drop the cruel laboratories. Documents that PETA recently obtained from UTD reveal that the laboratories have been removed from the curriculum.
