If you are always on the search for ethical vegan books as I am, you will absolutely adore this child's book. The story is sweet and powerful—taking young readers through the experience of Harry and his Mom going on a journey on a bus and to a sanctuary to answer the question of "Do all hearts beat the same as you and me?" The illustrations are wonderful—very easy on the eyes—friendly and warm—and the language is delightful, compassionate, and positive with the Scottish tone of "mumma" and "wellies." This book is nicely done and will make an excellent addition to the collection of any child's library.

As a Mom and Early Childhood Educator, I am always looking for children’s books that teach compassion and love for all living creatures. One Heartbeat is a book that I would have read to my sons when they were young and encourage all Early Childhood Educators to have in their classroom libraries. One Heartbeat responds to a question one little boy has after he feels and hears his mother’s heartbeat, Harry being the typical three-year-old has a very important question for his mom. He wonders if all hearts beat the same. The mom tells Harry they can find out when they go for a visit to the sanctuary. At the sanctuary Harry engages with all the animals and listen and feel their heart beating. What a wonderful experience for both Mom and Harry! This book teaches understanding and compassion for animals, I believe this is vital to every child’s development. The lessons that allow young children to learn compassion, love and respect for all living creatures is essential as they grow to be adults who will have empathy for everyone and live a peaceful and happy life. Get this book for all the children in your life! Request that your local library include this book in their collection! Purchase “One Heartbeat” for your child’s teacher!

This book is the cutest. It has so many cute illustrations, teaches children about compassion, and how animals have heartbeats just like us! Easy reading for an older child as well. Thank you for making a wonderful vegan book!

As a vegan mom who raised her own weegan, I remember all the questions. But I never got this one! It's a brilliant question, whether other animals have hearts that beat. It goes right to the essence of other animals being like us. Rather than just saying yes, mom takes her wee one on a field trip and they experience for themselves a simple reality that speaks for itself. This is a beautiful, sweet book with a powerful, timeless message.

This book clearly illustrates that all animals in the world have a heartbeat and have a right to live. This is especially important for kids to know and this book has a great way of illustrating it. It’s a quick read to children.

A beautiful and heartwarming book about Harry's first visit to an animal sanctuary. He discovers that all animals have beating hearts, moms and dads, and need to breathe, eat, and sleep just like we do. It's a gentle, lovely way to teach children about compassion and kindness toward all living creatures
