Review:

If you or someone you know is serious about staying healthy, Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease by Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr., M.D. is for you and them.

I thought I knew just about everything I needed to know about the prevention and reversal of heart disease – until I read this clearly written book that gets right to the point with irrefutable scientific evidence. And the more than 150 great-tasting recipes make it even easier and actually fun to live a healthful life.

Words cannot express how important I feel that this book is for everyone.

From the Book:

“The men and women in his [Dr. Esselstyn’s] twenty-year nutritional study – the most comprehensive study of its kind – came to him with advanced coronary disease. Despite the aggressive traditional treatment they received – including bypasses and angioplasties – a number had been told by cardiologists that they had less than a year to live. Within months of following a plant-based, oil-free diet, their angina symptoms eased, their cholesterol levels dropped significantly, and they experienced a marked improvement in blood flow to the heart. Twenty years later, they remain free of symptoms.”

About the Author:

“Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr., M.D., was a researcher and clinician at the Cleveland Clinic for more than thirty-five years, where he was a member of the board of governors and president of the staff. In 1991, Dr. Esselstyn served as the president of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, and organized the first National Conference on the Elimination and Prevention of Heart Disease. In 2005, he became the first recipient of the Benjamin Spock Award for Compassion in Medicine. Dr. Esselstyn is also an Olympic gold medalist in rowing, and he was awarded the Bronze Star as an army surgeon in Vietnam.

Dr. Esselstyn and his wife, Ann Crile Esselstyn, have followed a plant-based diet for more than twenty years. They work together to counsel patients in Cleveland.”
