Directory of Vegetarian (Vegan) Pastors and Churches Who Are Animal Friendly

Vista, California
Palomar Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
Beth Johnson, Pastor

Here is information about me and our congregation:

I have been working in animal rights and advocacy since 1996 at which time I awakened to my interdependence with all beings. My connection to and work on behalf of animals is a source of deep joy and is a core part of my call.

My doctoral work focused on the issue of human caused suffering of animals. Titled “Transforming Conversations: the Voices of Animals in the Interdependent Web,” my project looks at how the relational perspective of process theology and ecofeminism can help us to adequately ethically account for how we treat individuals animals especially factory farm animals.

I serve on the board of Unitarian Universalists for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Each year at my Fellowship we conduct a Blessing of the Animals service, and our potlucks and dinners always include options for vegetarians and vegans.

My congregation is a place where people who care about animals will be nurtured and supported and find their spirits refreshed.
