Thank you so much for that fabulous website of yours.  I, too, dearly love all animals (you actually have a few of my stories in your archives, and am the proud and somewhat tired mother of nine felines, all former strays), and my heart cries out to the Lord  to stop this terrible animal cruelty that goes on all over the world and seems to be getting worse. Not to mention the poor factory animals!

My question is, why did God allow the Israelites, and humankind, to eat animals and even gave them detailed instructions on which they could and could not eat.  I know death came into the world through sin, and animals come under the curse of sin and die from sickness and disease, but why are we allowed to eat them?  I can’t even look at a piece of meat knowing what those poor animals suffer. (I was just reading this message to you, and a thought flashed through my head. I often think of the thousands upon thousands of animals who were sacrificed under the old covenant, and the priests were allowed to eat the meat.  Since the animals represented the sacrifice that Jesus would one day be, could this have something to do with the scripture in John 6:51: I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Did our Loving Heavenly Father allow mankind to eat animals as a symbol of the Lamb of God???…)

I would really appreciate a Bible based explanation of this, and you are the only people I can think of to ask and who would answer!

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply!

May the Lord continue to bless you and keep you!

MARANATHA!

Erica
