Is Cremation Biblically Acceptable?

Question by Anne - 25 Feb 2006

I have been wondering lately if its ok for a Christian to be cremated instead of buried? I think in the Bible only burial was indicated and someone recently told me that cremation used to be considered a pagan rite.

As I am approaching an age where these matters need to be decided upon, I thought I would ask you all. I used to think I would be buried but lately realising I would prefer cremation and my ashes sprinkled in the parkland where I hike with my dog (I intend to scatter his ashes there) but don't want to plan something that might not be Godly?

Thanks for your thoughts on the subject :)

Anne
