Forgiven of Sins Without Sacrifice
Comments by Frank and Mary Hoffman - 2 Oct 2010

A Study of: Genesis 15:6, Matthew 9:2, Mark 2:5, 9, and Luke 5:20, 23, 7:48

Dear Bob:

Thank you for encouraging comments about our web site and for you comments on the essay.

We believe that a better translation of Hebrews 9:22 is:

22 And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. NAS

And we believe that the context of the essay and the grammar of the Greek (one may almost say) requires that we leave room for God's grace, and as you point out, God's grace was still at work in the once and for all time shedding of the blood of Jesus.

In fact, the whole act of giving us a Savior was an act of grace.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
