Dear Steven:
Thank you for your comments and question.
About 90% of all vegans, who remain vegans, have come from a position of compassion, and that requires a heart change. People need to feel the pain and suffering of the animals in order to make such a life-changing decision.
Talking naturally about ourselves and why we became vegan in general conversation usually is a much better persuader than lecturing. We need to love people into this change and not fight with them.
Sometimes, when the opportunity is right, we can also use a little shock when people insist that they need meat; such as asking them why don't you eat your dog because he or she is made of meat?
In any event, this is a slow and steady process that must go on every day whenever the opportunity presents itself, and as Steve said, it's not just for holidays.
We hope this helps.
In the Love of the Lord,
Frank and Mary
