Pastor Frank Answers What is the best argument to Jesus ate fish?Dedicated to cruelty free living through a vegan lifestyle.
For today’s episode, vegan Pastor Frank addresses the topic of Jesus eating fish. There is only one passage in the Bible in the Book of Luke that indicates that Jesus may have eaten fish. The other three Gospels do not mention it. When a story is repeated in all four Gospels, it provides strong historical authenticity. Back then, some heretics believed Jesus came back as a spirit or ghost after the Resurrection, so this Scripture passage may have been added to show critics that Jesus was flesh and blood because spirits can’t eat fish. We don’t know for sure if Jesus ate fish, but whether He ate fish or not doesn’t change what we should do today. God doesn’t want us to hurt and kill others. When you take fish out of water, they thrash around and struggle for oxygen the same way we thrash about and struggle for oxygen when we’re held under water. Jesus is all about love, mercy, and healing. Eating fish and other animals and their milk and eggs requires indifference, cruelty, and inflicting pain and suffering. These are not attributes of Jesus’ character. Jesus took the Apostles away from fishing. He wanted them to be fishers of people, not creatures – and ‘fish’ meaning gathering up other humans to walk the way of His compassion, peace, and mercy. Listen to learn more.
