A strain of MRSA—or methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus—came from cows, according to a new article published by the American Society for Microbiology.

The authors believe that community-associated MRSA (CA-MRSA) jumped from cows to farm workers over 40 years ago and that animals on farms may be a reservoir for future pandemic outbreaks.
