"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
Yesterday I used the word “evil” in my Blog. I know that this word upsets many people.
However, the word “evil” is used over and over again in the Bible.
How much better it would have been if people had simply followed God’s original intent, as in Eden where there was no killing, and if they had been content to eat as God had intended:
Genesis 1:29-31
29. Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.
30. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground — everything that has the breath of life in it — I give every green plant for food." And it was so.
31. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning — the sixth day.
NIV
Then after the fall:
Genesis 6:5-7
5. The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. [Emphasis mine]
6. The LORD was grieved that he had made man [human beings] on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain.
NIV
