"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
As I’ve mentioned in a previous Blog, the weather here has been unusual for this time of year. Instead of snow, we’ve been getting rain. Here’s something I wrote while still in bed very early on February 5th:
Raindrops
(Written Sunday, 5 February 2006, by Mary T. Hoffman)
Falling raindrops sound so soothing,
Tapping out their gentle greeting,
Waking us this Sunday morning,
Sending all below a blessing,
Wrapping us in joy and peace.
On days like this we often hear people say, “It’s a miserable day!” They fail to see the beauty and the blessing. After all, where would we be without the rain? Not only the beautiful scenery, but also our very sustenance depends on rainfall.
