"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
A few days ago a TV news program listed the main concerns of American people. According to this program, what topped the list was “health care costs.” Perhaps a better description is “disease care costs.”
After seeing this, I couldn’t help but think of what the Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20:
19. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?
20. For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.
It seems to me that the closer we live to God’s original intent (Genesis 1:29), the more God is glorified in our bodies.
29. Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;
As I mentioned in yesterday’s Blog, it is mind-boggling how much unnecessary, preventable suffering exists. If people would switch to a whole foods (unprocessed) plant food diet, I believe health care costs would shrink dramatically. We have proven this in our own lives. If people took more responsibility for their health by seeking out the truth instead of falling for every fad diet that comes along and believing all the slick ads bombarding them, they would be a lot healthier.
And, have you noticed how the word “prevention” is used to describe a diagnostic procedure? Women are led to believe that mammograms help in the “prevention” of breast cancer. Wait a minute! Common sense tells me that mammograms are used to “find” not to “prevent” breast cancer. “Prevention” results from healthful choices, not “diagnostic procedures.”
