After writing yesterday’s Blog about foie gras, I began to think
how, in this fallen world, depravity often becomes fashionably
desirable. Notice how the word “decadent,” which means “marked by
decay or decline,” is used in advertising certain products.
Unfortunately, there is a sizable, worldwide market for the products
of cruelty – and no country is immune. Glorifying evil appears to be
good business!
Until someone proves to me otherwise, I believe that just as there is
God, there is also Satan (the devil), who is called a liar, an accuser,
and a destroyer in the Bible.
In John 8:42-47 Jesus speaks to His accusers who are seeking to kill
Him:
42 "If God were your Father, you would love Me; for I proceeded
forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own
initiative, but He sent Me.
43 "Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you
cannot hear My word.
44 "You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the
desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does
not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he
speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the
father of lies.
45 "But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me.
46 "Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do
you not believe Me?
47 "He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do
not hear them, because you are not of God."

If a person honestly seeks the Truth, I believe that God will reveal
it to him or her. Then it is up to that individual to take
responsibility for that knowledge, and to use his or her God-given
abilities to promote whatever is kind and compassionate.
As we are told in Galatians 5:22-24:
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh
with its passions and desires.

Until the Lord’s return, there is a lot to be done; and we must
never, ever give up!
