"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
When I think of the month of June, one of the first things that pops into my mind is James Russell Lowell’s poem June, that begins with these lines: “And what is so rare as a day in June? / Then, if ever, come perfect days….”
I also think about the fragrant wild roses that bloom profusely, draped
in white and light pink garlands over trees and shrubs in the countryside.
By the lakeshore, the wild yellow irises and the blue flag irises are past their peak, with their last few blooms making their appearance; but the buds of the yellow evening primroses are starting to appear. At this time of year, there are so many different flowering plants to look for and enjoy.
