"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
Today Frank and I celebrate our forty-fifth wedding anniversary. We believe that God brought us together, knowing that we would eventually “wake up,” change, and follow Him. It is an exciting journey of learning and working to make this a better world for all of God’s creatures, both human and non-human.
Over the years we have come to realize that denying other animals their God-given rights is linked to the suffering of humans, and that granting basic legal rights to other animals is in the best interest of all creation. It is not a matter of “them” or “us.”
So, we will continue to peacefully work at whatever God would have us do.
Hooray! Hooray! Today’s the day
To celebrate our big Four Five!
It’s been great fun, much more in store
As hand in hand, through the door
To future blessings we proceed
And try to help the ones in need.
We will not rest; this world’s a test.
In God we trust to lead us on
By truth and peace to right the wrong;
Till kindness spreads, becomes so strong,
And Christ returns to sweep away
The evil found on earth today.
Then will our prayer – Thy Kingdom come
On earth as it is in heaven –
Come true: No pain, no tears,
An end to fears.
What glimmered as on a distant shore,
God’s intent will reign once more.
