Sometimes when I feel that the situation for bringing back the
God-given right for other animals to live as He intended is hopeless,
I am re-energized by thinking of the thousands of children, some still
in elementary school, who email us daily to thank us for our website.
Here they see for themselves the truth: the horrific exploitation of
the animals – the round the clock cruelty and suffering that goes on
openly, as well as behind closed doors. These children are grateful
that someone is finally exposing the hypocrisy rampant in the world.
Many of them tell us that they are tired of being lied to.
God has given all of us a sensitivity that we learn to suppress as we
are influenced by those around us. A good illustration of this appeared
in a National Geographic Magazine several years ago: a photo showed a
mother and her children in a pig-slaughtering scene. You couldn’t
mistake the look of horror on the children’s faces as the mother
collected the blood from the bleeding, squealing pig.
God has given all children the sensitivity to feel compassion and
empathy. It is the hardness of heart in our society that desensitizes
these young people to the suffering going on in the world. Thankfully,
many of our youth see through the hypocrisy going on around them, and
they rally to the truth with a desire to make this a more loving,
compassionate, and peaceful world.
In Isaiah’s prophecy of the coming Peaceable Kingdom, he describes
how the animals will all live together in peace – “The wolf also shall
dwell with the lamb…” and he says that “…a little child shall lead
them.” (my emphasis) (Isaiah 11:6)
And in the New Testament, Jesus says “And you shall know the truth,
and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)
