Where’s the Snow? – 11 December 2006
By this date last year – 11 December 2005 – we had a total of
twelve inches of snow here: 2 inches on 24 November, 1 inch on 3
December, and 9 inches on 9 December. This year: none.
The area around the Great Lakes – Buffalo, Cleveland, Erie, etc. –
are having their usual lake-effect snow as the cold Arctic air swoops
downwards and blows across the warmer waters of the lakes. We usually
get more snow with a “nor’easter” coming from the Atlantic.
Well, there are two more weeks until Christmas. Who knows? Maybe
we’ll have a white Christmas after all!
Winter Joy
By Mary T. Hoffman
(Written 11 December 2006)
Poets praise the spring.
Few are those who raise
Their voices in praise
Of joy snowflakes bring.
It’s no secret; this we know:
Winter brings more joy
To every girl and boy
And all because of snow!
Snowmen and women, too,
Add more to winter’s fun,
When all is said and done,
Than pricey toys and gimmicks do.
So let’s enjoy this season;
There’s much to do and see
As nature shows to you and me
The Creator’s depth and vision.

"Joyful Curmudgeon"
An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the
same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the
world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true
peace and compassion.Blog
