No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

“Dirty Hospitals” – 10 January 2007

According to an article titled “Dirty Hospitals” in the January 2007 issue of the AARP Bulletin, two million patients are infected in hospitals each year and more than 90,000 of them die. In the United States in 1974 drug-resistant microbes accounted for only 2% of staph infections; but by 2004 the number had grown to 63%.

When hospitals have to report information about infections to the public, as they do in Pennsylvania, California, and 14 other states, they are more likely to “clean up their act.” In New York State the number of deaths after bypass surgery dropped by 41% when hospitals’ death rates started being published. As I’ve said before, the truth must be exposed for positive change to take place.

Reading this article, I thought about all the elective cosmetic surgery that has become so popular. It’s bad enough when someone has no choice but to be treated in a hospital; but to risk infection and possible death for unnecessary surgery seems foolish.
