As you probably already know, Frank and I do not take medications
or “herbal supplements.” Many years ago we came to the conclusion that
a vegan lifestyle that includes mostly unprocessed food is the most
healthful for us. As Hippocrates, the father of medicine, said
thousands of years ago, “Let food be your medicine.” In addition, in
Genesis 1:29 God says “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding
seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has
fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you.”
So when I heard about the news report concerning the negative effects
of a “sports drink” that contains an “herbal” product (tree bark?)
claimed to enhance performance, I thought about how much better off
people would be if they stopped looking for “magic bullets” and just got
down to basics.
It is interesting how the “herbal supplement” industry and the
powerful pharmaceutical industry seem to be at odds with each other,
when the products of both industries are probably used by those who
would be better off just switching to a healthful vegan diet instead.
It is also interesting how “lackey” doctors and reporters seem to
join in on the “witch hunt” directed at “herbal supplements” that
deflects attention from the huge number of avoidable casualties of what
passes for “health care” that is beholden to the powerful pharmaceutical
industry.
In my opinion, if physicians really cared about their patients, they
would see to it that those seeking their advice would be counseled about
changing their diets to unprocessed plant food in order to prevent
illnesses in the first place.
