"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
Why am I so cynical about some celebrities who lend their names to “causes”? Because so many of them are as dependable as the wind and as changeable.
Let me explain what I mean: First of all, there are quite a few who claim to be “for the animals” or “for the environment” but are simply “doggie-kitty” people or “meanie greenies.”
I remember a model who was “for” a pro-animal organization until she became “for” the fur industry! Then there’s the actress who, in a biographical article in a magazine, made it emphatically clear that she wasn’t one of those animal rights people! But she “loved animals”: “pets”!
And what about the “vegetarian” who later married a cattle rancher? Or the actress who became a spokesperson for a “charity” that funds animal- utilizing research!
Then there are those celebrities who are spokespersons for things “organic” or “environmental,” including those who have taken up buffalo and cattle farming as a hobby, et cetera.
You get the picture!
