A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from All-Creatures.org

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

A Little Autumn Humor – 4 November 2007
By Mary T. Hoffman

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m something of a “leaf peeper” and really enjoy the beauty of autumn. There are many oak trees in this area, so I noticed that this year one of the young oaks on the property next to ours is especially beautiful, with more color than many of the oak trees that tend to have brownish leaves now.

Well, I told my husband that this ran through my mind while I was admiring the neighbor’s oak tree: “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s oak tree!”  He thought it was very funny, so I thought I’d share this bit of humor with you.
