A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from All-Creatures.org

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Having Fun – 27 May 2008
By Mary T. Hoffman

Yesterday my husband Frank and I took our canoe out on the lake. It was a beautiful, sunny day though a bit on the windy side. Along the lakeshore, several varieties of flowers are in bloom, among them: wild geranium, buttercup, fleabane, Rosa rugosa, yellow iris, blue flag iris, morrow honeysuckle, tartarian honeysuckle, and wild black cherry. Our lilacs are well past peak, although they still retain some of their delightful scent.

Sometimes it’s fun to just “take the time to smell the roses!” Best of all, we have fun with a clear conscience: armed only with a camera, we know that we haven’t deliberately harmed any living being in order to enjoy ourselves.
