A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from All-Creatures.org

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Dogs – 31 May 2008
By Mary T. Hoffman

“South Korean capital defines dogs as ‘livestock’ ” is the title of an article in the May 2008 issue of Animal People News.

Here are a few excerpts from this important article:

Acknowledging the existence of at least 528 Seoul restaurants that sell dog meat, plus 70 more that may offer dog meat as a summer special, Seoul city health officials on April 12, 2008 announced that they would begin inspecting dog carcasses.

“The city also plans to propose that the central government categorize dogs as livestock….”

While the dog meat industry is still big, dog meat dealers…in July 2007 abandoned an attempt to sell dog meat online…due to public opposition.
