A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from All-Creatures.org

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Thought for Today – 18 August 2008
By Mary T. Hoffman

“The obligations of law and equity reach only to mankind; but kindness and beneficence should be extended to the creatures of every species, and these will flow from the breast of a true man, as streams that issue from the living fountain.” – Plutarch (46–120 AD) Greek philosopher and moralist

When you realize that Plutarch said this nearly 2,000 years ago, it becomes obvious that things haven’t changed much. In the world today, there are still very few truly kind people who have compassion for all of God’s creatures. Most people don’t want to admit that the world-wide increased demand for animal-derived products is bringing about the destruction of humans, other animals, and the environment. They indoctrinate their children (whom they claim to love) in the culture and traditions of cruelty that are actually bringing about their demise.

There is only one action that will bring about positive change: Go vegan!
